Fisher, I read your forum thread and thought I'd give you some feedback. I rarely shoot people. I'm trying to push myself to do more portraits. So, keep in mind that I'm no expert when you read my comments. I think you handled the techincal side of things fine. For me, and this is my personal feeling about portraits, I need to be engaged by the model in some way. With this shot, my eye just kind of wanders not knowing where to land. The expression/profile isn't telling me anything about the model. My eye wants to move past him to the background or at best, land on his nose. If his gaze was on something visible in the frame, that might help. I think another of your portraits was much more successful. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2770169
