Two Nikon SB 28 flash units were used. One on the right side of the lens and one on the left a bit above the lens. I did use shutter speed of 1/250 to darken the background. By using a slower shutter speed the light has got time to bounce back on film and the background will come out much lighter.Proframe Photography

The Attacus Atlas is the largest moth of Southeast Asia with a

wingspan of around 10 inches. It has the largest wing surface of all

moths. The wingtips look like snake heads, to scare of

predators....Best regards, Harry

Harry, I may be an amateur, but this is incredible! Both odd/unique and breathtaking in the color saturation all at once! I'm not sure which is more awesome, the moth or the flower. Great shot!

I love the contrast in colors, and you have captured a great example of species adaptation. Darwin would be proud.

Both subjects and your technique were superb. Only improvement that I can think of is a little natural background than this black one. 7/7

Good grief Harry, my biggest fear in life was that you would start shooting macros!!!! The black background really makes the flower and moth stand out so strongly. Nothing like the colors of Velvia, well done.

The composition and palette are outstanding. It must be scaring for other animals with this pattern and colors. Top rates from me.

...the flatness of both the lighting (which overpowers even the dew droplets on the plant) and (flat) composition render this shot colorfully garish but aesthetically uninteresting.
