oswegophoto 1 Posted January 7, 2005 I'm attempting to add a bit of drama to my usual level-horizon shots, so I rotated this 10° anticlockwise, to make the fence and horizon line imply where the ball is going. Curious to see if you think I'm headed in the right direction, as it were. Link to comment
emre 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Nice moment, awkward crop. At least keep the girl intact! Does your lens have vignetting or did you dodge the right side? Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted January 7, 2005 Thanks for your comment, you're right about the awkwardness. I was looking elswhere, and missed that. Here's the shot without the tilt, uncropped. I guess her foot's just too close to the bottom to get away with the tilt. Unfortunately, that's not vignetting: it's chain-link fence, the bane of softball photographers. 8-) Link to comment
emre 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Ah, the fence! Why didn't I think of that? I knew it had to be something. Well... I would fix it by using a mask on top of an adjustment layer. Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted January 8, 2005 Thanks, and a tip o' the hat, for the tip! So now I have to learn about defence technology, eh? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 9, 2005 Lovely action shot. It was great idea tilting the horizon and cropping off the bright sky. I think lower crop is a little awkward. Still looks nice. You have the original which looks great. I think a re-crop will give you a wonderful image. Nice work. Kind regards. Link to comment
r 0 Posted January 10, 2005 I think in this case the level works better. I like the way the circular tracks echo the motion of the bat. Excellent timing to get the ball in frame after the strike. Unfortunately(maybe) the bat and posture suggest she's about to hit the ball with a backhand swing :)I took the liberty of attempting my own spin on your composition. It's rather more wreckless, but I think the white line's parallel ties it down securely with a strong hint of intentional. Also dodged the ball, bat, track and line a little. I think the white triangles illustrate the need to be doing this stuff incamera. Although, I suppose the bottom right may now have room for team logo and player name. Like baseball cards :) Link to comment
mr.omar 4 Posted January 10, 2005 you really freeze the time... besides the dark (out-of-focus) fense, everything is good. very good shot indeed. Link to comment
