marc1 0 Posted October 12, 2001 she seems to be out of place here, perhaps a closer shot could of helped, lovely cove though Link to comment
tony_dummett 0 Posted October 22, 2001 Subtle, idyllic, serene, mysterious, voluptuous and sexy. Very nice picture (and she has an amazing waist!). Don't take any notice of the suggestions that it should be tighter framed. We're not just looking at the woman. It's the whole scene that makes this picture. Link to comment
axel-cordes 0 Posted October 24, 2001 much! May be it's just my taste - I would like to have it more lighter... some parts of the rocks and the girl. This is no critique - I would like to have something like this in my "pocket"... Link to comment
jasmine_obrien 0 Posted November 18, 2001 I think it's better dark so you look at the landscape as well and how she fits in, and not just ogle. I just suggested Denis does something similar with his photo (http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=402017) Link to comment
maria_s. 1 Posted February 23, 2002 I keep coming to this one Jonathan ... I think it's mainly to see a gorgeous (sp?) black and white with full range of midtones. And, I can't help but think that "Paradise Lost" would make a great title. Lotsa memeories but I aint going there. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted July 28, 2002 I completely agree with Maria. You made a great image, Jonathan. Congratulations! Link to comment
david_montroy 0 Posted February 12, 2003 I like this photo very much. The pose of the girl, and the contrast and light, are excellent. Link to comment
larry_lowe 0 Posted February 13, 2003 6/5 - Beautiful shot. I would love to see her about 3 feet to the left so that the rocks aren't behind her silo, but beautiful nonetheless. Link to comment
John Peri 1,039 Posted December 7, 2009 A lot of seemingly simple, but so well thought out images in this portfolio. This one also is superb ... Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 4 Posted March 15, 2010 Thank you. I have now written in my blog about our summer in Devon back in 1975, with some more photos - one never published before (and among my favorites). Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 4 Posted March 15, 2010 For this candid shot, taken directly into the sun I deliberately exposed fro the highlights to catch the shiny texture of the water surface, which looked almost as bright as mercury. It meant that the shadows became almost black making the figure a near-silhouette. For me it captured the overall impression of the scene - what do you think? Comments and crits are very welcome. pjmeade 12 Posted March 15, 2010 I like this, it harks back to (I think) Bill Brandt's beach photos. The girl is there to be seen, but not quite visible enough and that's a very good thing, it maintains the mistry. Link to comment
tangerine1 0 Posted March 16, 2010 It works for me. The woman doen't have to be more than a silhouette (just for scale, but her beautiful body adds to the picture). What bothers (a bit) me is the tilted horizon.Anyway, an excellent B&W. Link to comment
Ray House 4,524 Posted March 18, 2010 I will just say you made good choices. I think the horizon should be straightened. Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 4 Posted September 25, 2010 Yep, well spotted. I shall correct the next version. Thanks. Link to comment
