jason_taylor1 0 Posted September 25, 2001 This has a very Ansel Adams feel to it. The focus looks very sharp from the foreground to the clouds in the disatance. I think the composition is excellent. The fallen tree adds an assymetic element to the picture that lends it energy. It is difficult for me to guess what was outside the framing of this picture, but I think showing a little more sky and I would like to see the whole rock on the foreground on the left. I see that you used a circular polarizing filter, it would have been nice to take a little more glare off the lake, but you tried to take that into account. I opened the picture in Photoshop and bumped up the contrast. A little more contrast brings more life to the picture. The rock and tree really jump out as do the clouds in the distant sky. Also I don't know how much the right portion of the picture adds to the overall composition. Link to comment
anthony_ohalloran1 0 Posted September 25, 2001 For me there seems to be a lot of foreground with not enough interest in it. Were you trying to pull the viewer in with the fallen tree? For me the tree seems out of place and ends up as the focus of the image. You seemed to have the right idea and elements for a good photo but some how it doesn't really work for me. Keep up the good work. Link to comment
darin_mccauley 0 Posted September 26, 2001 I agree with the above comment. The right portion of the frame does not add much, and I'd prefer to see more sky. Both of these things could be accomplished by framing vertically. Shifting your position to the right and the camera angle to the left would also make the log more dynamic.(Hindsight is 20/20) Great use of depth of field! Link to comment
