Propane lamp inside the car, a little bit of flashlight outside. You almost may see the mountains in the background, behind the trees.

Abandoned train carriage near by abandoned Saltair resort, Salt Lake

City. Yo may see a top of this resort on the right side of this

photo. This is a "cursed" resort - it burnt to the ground several

times since 1893, and built again.

The window facing the camera could have been used better I think. However, this is an awesome picture! Great work. (Is the camera perfectly straight? I get a feeling it is tilted towards the left)

This is almost surreal. I love the light and the graphic detail in the windows. It is rather ironic that the scene is warm and welcoming with evidence of alot of people traffic and yet is described as abandoned. The lights in the distance and the row of trees add depth and a point of interest.

Thanks to all for your comments, and I am really glad you like this photo! :)

Vinayak, what is the other way to use window, what do you think? And yes, I rotated this photo a little bit. Maybe not enough...

Hanna, It's really abandoned. All these footprints are from wonderers, like me ;-)

Josh, yeah, Polar Express, sure :) I made this photo a year ago, so I am thinking about copyright to the cartoon too ;-)

Excellent!

I don't see evidence of the flashlight and can't figure out how the bright propane light would give you the time to use it. Do you remember the exposure times for camera, propane, and flashlight?

(This place is now on my list for the next westward photo trek.)

Carl sure I do:

f/5.6, 15 seconds

It was really dark :)

Flashlight was "walking" on the "face" of this train, and a little bit on the right side. Basically, that's why you may see the blue color.

As I mentioned in another night shot of yours, the flashlight is putting out a surprisingly even diffuse light. It works very well.

....warm light and excellent use of light and shadows to fill the empty space between the two trains. Beautiful image Eugene....Best regards, Harry

Blanking off the extreme left of the pix, thereby removing the part-door, with the distracting light at the base, makes the comp much more strict and clear. Well balanced light and dark from perfect exposure. Good perspective, and...maybe for comparison, a super wide shot, closer up, for more drama??

Damn good exposure.. I would not have thought that the 10D would have this much exposure latatude. Is this a composite?? anyway.. compelling work.. cheers..
