naki 0 Posted January 2, 2002 Happy New Year!!! Want to see more images, visit to http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder? folder_id=149292 is an art of geometry and an art of lines as well as planes and surfaces. All architecture has its own unique feature, shape, style and appearance. Architecture tends to be well decorated in the same way that people use make up and dress up for their beauty. Most people, however, tend to neglect the aesthetic aspect of the architecture, they are just considering the architecture as a useful building, not artwork. This is the reason why I have an interest in architecture, and I have chosen architecture as my subject in the same way that portrait photographer choose people. Every one of my photograph is touched by my unique sensitivity to the building as a living object for human being. I want to express my concept and my point of view about aesthetics through these architectural photographs, and I want to re-create two dimensional artwork from the architect's three dimensional artwork with my simple, abstract and graphic way of view. Especially, I want to express some contrasting subjects in my images. For example, the contrast between old and new, geometric, graphic shape and composition, and contrast in tonality. The reason why I chose black and white photography is to express an extremely high contrast in tonality of each piece of architecture. In two dimensional photograph, I have tried to capture the powerfully dynamic shapes of architecture and stylistic aspect as important details. These buildings that I took in photographs are pretty familiar to people who live in San Francisco, but the building in my photographs might be unfamiliar to them. Even though I choose a wide variety types of architectures, I have manipulated my camera to reveal that design with my concept.> Please feel what I felt at those moment... Thank you. #These images were exhibited at De Young Fine Art Museum of San Francisco in 2000 as my solo exhibition 'Abstract Portrait Series'... Link to comment
