Yosemite Valley

Used a neutral density graduated filter to decrease top vertical contrast. Been trying to get this picture for years. Finally.

I've taken pictures from this spot every year for a decade. Never got the shot I wanted.

Finally, great day, great light, and, oh yeah, that graduated ND filter.

If they gave out 7's for perserverance, you'd get one from me. The other nine might be postcards, but this one is a step above. As it is O5/A7. I'm glad you finally got it and shared it with us. Something this good should be framed. So here it is with a few small tweaks...

I havn't been to Yosemite since 1975, still looks great... Fantastic photograph... I didn't even have a camera when I spent few days camping and hiking there. Thanks for reminding me what a beautiful spot it is.......

Very classic, over photographed spot. Probably a few million photographs taken in this EXACT spot each year, there is probably deep wholes in the ground from peoples tripods! Anyways, This is over and above the normal "tourist picture" taken from this spot. You were able to capture a moment in time and express that in your photograph, and I feel that is why it is successful. Nicely composed, nice use of lighting, and glad you got the clouds rather then just a blah sky.

Gorgeous shot!! I've had a hankering to go back to yosemite with my new camera now for going on 6 months (curiously, the same age as my youngest child... free time sure is scarce lately!), and this just "upped" the urge about 200%. What a fantastic photo (who cares of other people have taken it too. ) Excellent work

Great depth. The lighting is just perfect. darker around the edges, helping to frame the shot, and the light seems to be pouring fromt he area of the waterfall, or you can imagine it does. Nice work.
