Branches. The lens is a little soft when hand held at 300mm even with the IS turned on, however I loved the composition of this shot too much not to save it. This is a partial crop.

I completely agree with you on the composition. If the bird were crisp, it would be absolutely perfect, but even as is, it is definately a welcome change from the badly composed, over saturated bird photos. It really shows the subject as a delicate and beautiful creature in its natural contect. Bravo! and good luck on your next outting. Sharpness is something that will come with a better oppurtunity, but a good eye is something much harder to come by - and something you definately have in your bag.

Thank you Jessica, it's good to know others agree. I have shown the photo to friends and family, but they see only the bird and not the photograph.
