juanriera 0 Posted November 7, 2004 When I saw this site and I previsualized the image as a "Man rebirth from Nature" or so. Link to comment
walter_weizenauer 0 Posted November 7, 2004 I wish I could get past the fact that I really like the subject. I find the interplay between natural textures of rock, moss and the human form to be pure beauty. The main place where this photo succeeds is that there is no impulse to turn the page. The more I look, the more I see. If there was any "criticism" it would be the ambiguity of subject and message. I find that interesting in itself. Link to comment
stuartduffy 0 Posted November 7, 2004 Truly inspired work, the colours, the lighting, and the shape and feel! I don't find men the best bodies to view - but this is just so good - very professional. I take it he is in the womb? Link to comment
juanriera 0 Posted November 7, 2004 Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it.This foto has been an old favorite of mine. This is a place where you can only get by low tide (it is at the seaside). We used to go there for swimming but this time was the first time after the whole winter and spring. The green algae grown during the spring had changed the site and I saw the rock form as some kind of primigenial and protective nest. If you see the place, under his feet there is some sort of stone seat covered by this green algae. I ask my model (in fact he is my brother) to seat there trying not disturbing the green coverage (you can see this was not completely achieved). A few seconds after the taking he slipped away unhappily removing the green covering around the seat. I can say I previsualized the image and everything was ok to get it right! Link to comment
hyde 0 Posted November 7, 2004 A very interesting and attractive image, great composition. The contrast between the black and the green of the rocks and the colour of the body is superb. Great work! Muchas gracias por tu comentario, Juan. Un abrazo. 7/7 Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 7, 2004 Juan, this is a beautiful and relaxing image to take in. The vibrant green and cool blue/grey are a fine colour balance. The circular pattern off the placement of the rocks, the lines in the rock face and the curves in the body do create a cocooning effect. I see man protected by and even submissive to nature, instead of trying to dominate it. A very striking and evocative photo. Link to comment

steve_bingham 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Wow. Most male nude studies are just plain BAD. What a delightful exception. Beautiful composition and color. A real work of art. Tough to do. Link to comment

mhgreen 0 Posted November 22, 2004 Wonderful shot. Extremely visually interesting. Being a straight man, I would have preferred a nude woman, but with that being said, I think this is really cool image. Link to comment
juanriera 0 Posted November 22, 2004 I am a little bit surprised by the relative success of this photo. I have always considered myself a landscape photographer and my incursions on figure photography are very scarce, the three photos on my photo.net portfolio being near the only nude photos I have done in my life. What is more, I don't see this photo as a nude photo, but a photo that uses a nude man to communicate an allegorical vision of man (person) in nature. I am not concerned with nude body itself but as an expresive media. So at the end you think at PN two of my three nude photos are my best far above my landscape ones... really shocking to me...well, just kidding. Nice community here at PN!! Link to comment
