christian deichert 1 Posted November 2, 2004 I caught this on the No Words forum; very impressive. I would like to see some more light on the evergreens, but with the lighting as is I think this is the best exposure possible -- enough shadow detail without overexposing the higlight tree. Well shot. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted November 2, 2004 Don, You have many excellent shots in your folders and a few outstanding ones. This one falls into the latter category in my opinion. The high impact comes from the contrast between the monochrome of the general area and the brilliant yellow of your subject. I think it would work just as well in B&W, the contrast coming from the light tones against the dark ones. Placement of your subject in the frame is classic. This is the type of situation we all hope to find but perhaps frequently overlook because we are in too great a hurry. Thanks for pointing the way with this one. Best, LM. Link to comment

ducksquat 1 Posted November 2, 2004 Thanks for the complements, all! Yes, this is indeed very real. I mistyped this when I said Banff National Park - it was actually in Kootenay National Park, Alberta, Canada. I've always wanted a shot like this and I found a mountain side where there were but three lone trees shining quite bright amongst the sea of dark evergreens on this very overcast and drizzly day (though it stopped for a short bit when I shot this one). I highly recommend a trip to the Canadian Rockies of Alberta or British Columbia in early October - it's just breathtaking! Link to comment
