This is the National Carillon in Canberra Australia at sunset.

Noticed the lovely colours on the building and trees around it at

sunset on the way home from work, so took a few shots of it one

evening to see how they came out. My first real experiment with

light that I have done. Comments are welcome.

I tend to agree with you regarding the lovely colors in this shot. The reflection in the water adds some beauty to the picture. Could you mention the camera and film you used? Not that it's so important, the photographer's eye is the one that matters, but anyway that's the habit.

ya, nice colours, would be even better with puffy white clouds against an azure sky (vs darkish gray clouds on a grayblue sky), or with some underlighting on the clouds. looks like you've found a nice photo spot, try lots of variations (including b/w with a yellow filter to darken sky), maybe IR too!

Lovely reflection, but I think this kind of shot rarely works in the centre of the frame. I'd put it on the left hand side myself - I think it makes for a more intriguing shot. Thinking about it, I probably would have used a wider angle lens and gone landscape, but that's really personal preference, I think.

Your sky does look a bit steely, though I suspect it's the scanning wot's done it. Did you use a polarizer? If not, try that if you should shoot this again.
