Sally Lightfoot Crab, Galapagos Islands.
Sometimes I really go after a picture. As anyone who's been to the Galapagos can attest, Sally Lightfoot crabs are very skittish. This photo was the culimation of over 5 minutes of trying to corner a crab and get my camera close enough for a macro shot. (Crabs flee sideways -- which makes it especially hard to get anterior shots!) No way I was going to be able to peer through the lens, though. This was shot in a crouch at arms' length. I'm pretty proud of the framing, considering.
