john_barry 0 Posted September 27, 2001 This photo is of my son - about 1 month old. I used my N80 with 85mm f/1.8, used existing light with Supra 800. Is there enough detail in the shadows? Some of the deatil may have been lost in the scan (flatbed scanner 300 DPI) How would I improve the exposure or photo? Thanks. Link to comment
paul_van_buren 0 Posted September 27, 2001 Its a nice photo. There seems to be good detail in the shadow but I find the glare on the chest to be a bit much. I like the focus on the face. Link to comment
john_barry 0 Posted September 27, 2001 Daniel, good idea about the reflector. In order to bring up detail in the shadows I tried to "brighten" the photo a little in PhotoPaint, leaving his chest a little too bright. Though on the color laser the print seems much better than the monitor. The color is a little weak on purpose, I desaturated by about 30-40%. Also, I thought Supra was one of Kodak's Pro films, maybe I'm wrong though. I have had better luck with the Supra 800 than the Portra 800, possibly because of my particular shooting/light situations - they both are excellent films though. I'll start experimenting with reflectors to help me with shadow's. Thanks. Link to comment
