venicia_l 0 Posted September 19, 2004 People were feeding the pigeons on the front lawn of the Honolulu Zoo.There must have been thousands of birds, constantly landing andswooping upwards in a coordinated kind of rhythm. The sound waswonderful. I shot into the mass of wings and bodies, intending only torecord the abstractness of that mayhem. I didn't know the child was atthe center until I got the slides back. Capturing him and his look ofwonder and the bright splash of color in the otherwise monochromaticimage was pure luck.VL Link to comment
dhawks 0 Posted September 24, 2004 I think it was Woody Allen that said "90% of being successful in life is showing up." In photography that ratio probably holds true for "just taking the shot." Luck or not this is truely a great photograph that for me captures mayhem, surprise, excitement, movement...packed all into one frame, WOW! Brilliant image. Link to comment
root 0 Posted October 29, 2004 Agreed. You make your own luck. And it also would have been a good shot without any people . . . just as you intended. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 25, 2004 you love pigeon shots, too! You should visit my Birds folder, Venicia. Yours are so beautiful with their color, and the blue tinge! Lovethe red-shirted child in the middle of it all. Good capture! Link to comment

akochanowski 0 Posted February 13, 2005 oh my gosh, I wish I had this in my street portfolio. Simply wonderful. I must try to rip off the idea sometimes, it's just too good. Best, Andy Link to comment
