the face is very strong but too small in the frame. If you're going to leave that much space around, it should contribute some context to the image. I'm left wondering where is he, why does he look like that, what's he wearing, etc.

i was not sure about the backround too, but i don t think it s distracting. furthermore he is strong enough to keep the eyes attented to him. maybe i should have added he?s a monk in a pagoda near phnom penh...regards

From one side,,could be nice to have to context..from another,,,could be nice a tight portrait... I don't really know, but by your choice, I am a little bit bothered by the centering. BTW... the original yellow shirt can work as well.... ;)
