I like the edges and the clean background. The rock formation? is very unique. I'm not sure how I feel about that part. But, I like the overall look. Your shading and tones have a very nice feeling.

Absolutely wonderful! Perfect capture with the horizon and an interesting object (to say the least). How did you get the dark edges?

Was the vignetting done on purpose in the darkroom or is it a function of the lens you're using?

Thanks for the comments. The vignetting is a darkroom effect. In my exhibition prints this one is quite darker than this though.

Erik You have a truely inspiring portfolio. This is one of my favourite images, not just in your portfolio, but across the entire PN site. I blows me away everytime. How i would love to create something even half as good as this.

I saw this picture the first time on the LensWork Magazine number 67. I'm so amazed with your pictures. My first thought, the abstract shape made me think that the bottom part of the rocks was under the water. Now I notice that the water is behind the rock. There are so many unique aspects of this shot, which made me think of you instantly when I found it on Photo.net. This specific picture has stayed in my mind ever since....

 

One more important lesson I have learned after I compared your photo here and in print (LensWork), the web medium does not do it justice. I would love to visit your exhibition in person....!

Thanks for the comment. I agree that the web is not the best medium for pictures. Though the picture in Lenswork was an improved version of this one.
