May i be the first to say "this is a powerful, classic shot"?...wish it was photo of the week. Its good enough and the timing is perfect...can we change it?... Feeling priviledged just to have the first comment on this pic...bet it will be famous.

I like this image. It's a spectacular composition. I like the towering nature of the huge vertical. And the feel, the coloring, is like an old thirties black and white. I'm not so sure about that. I like it, and then I wonder what other options you might have explored.

You look as though you're on 8th and 34th. How did you even get a camera out that close to the garden without getting tackled by secret servicemen and sent to lockup?

Anyway, I think you solved the problem of how to capture the level of security in NYC during the convention. Look up at the helicopters and the blimp (since taking photos of the barricades around the garden was pretty much out of the question if you wanted to keep your camera).

7/7. A perfectly orginal shot and I've seen several thousand of the convention week by now.

an awesome idea for a shot of the convention security level. And a great shot regardless the subcontent. Stan, stop having bad dreams.

Your picture is SO powerful!

It gives the viewer such a sentiment of unsecurity, of something really, really bad happening...

10/10!

I too was reminded of King Kong. I thought that visually the only thing missing was the big monkey, but due to the timing some people might have thought it was a political comment. Fantastic Image!

I think this shot is great. As for suggestions, I'd like to see how this would look with a little more motion. The helicopters seem like they're going to fall from the sky. The guy in the center has an awkward posture. Would also like to see the two people looking up at the sky a little more prominently featured. The story above the street is a lot more compelling than what's going on down below so it feels a bit off balance.
