ignacio_ayestaran 0 Posted September 8, 2004 waiting for someone at the Pink Pony in New York. The framing could be better, but considering I shot this from out table, and any other angle just brought other hungry customers into the picture; considering I am really happy how this turned out Link to comment
eric_t. 0 Posted September 8, 2004 It's a busy photo, Ignacio, but I think it works very, very nicely. The young lady is obviously the center of attention in the photo and she's separated from everything else by the lighting and her light clothing. And the look on her face...she looks as if she's waiting for someone who is probably late...very late. Glad you posted this in B&W...I can't imagine it working better in color. Kudos! Link to comment
david shelby 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Great B&W image.Simple but a thoughtful photo..Excellent perspective of your photography.... Link to comment
nilesh2 0 Posted September 8, 2004 great shot! as u said, you could have framed it better. but this works for me. title is also great! some other titles like "waiting.." or "dreaming" would have been boaring.."what if.." is very strong. Link to comment
russelld 0 Posted September 8, 2004 I really like this picture. The lighting on her face is perfect. A couple of suggestions: Why not crop out the customer and the eggs on the left. I don't think it would hurt to have her a little off center and looking off the long side of the pix. I think toning down the two bright spots behind her head would help too. I really like the "feel" of this photo. Wouldn't have worked in color. Link to comment
johnorr 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Hahaha Yep, I was thinking the exact same thing, that is crop off the left side(eggs). I would also dodge a bit on the left side of her face. Link to comment
gustaf_bj_rklund 0 Posted September 9, 2004 I think the framing on both sides add greatly to this photo. Without the "eggs" it would loose some of it's punch, possibly some of the right side could be removed if needed, however I don't see any need for this. Great capture, best I've seen in a while. harnstrom1 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Excellent composition and lovely tones. A picture with soul. Should be in the top on top list. Pure and clean photography. Link to comment
erikadams 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Her pose and expression are wonderful. I would vote for cropping the left. Keeping the right preserves a sense that she is looking outside. Excellent work. Link to comment
mike kelly 0 Posted September 9, 2004 This is obviously such a personal thing, but the one thing I find distracting is the "gothic dolphins" text. Otherwise really really nice. Link to comment
rajeevthomas 1 Posted September 10, 2004 A classic...like a classic and it is a classic! 7/7 Link to comment
davecollopy 0 Posted September 10, 2004 This is great! I would've never thought to crop it this way, but now that you have it's excellent. I wouldn't change a thing. You've made some beautiful choices here! Link to comment
dwscott78 0 Posted September 10, 2004 I have a question. With a situation like this...where the subject doesn't know they're being photographed....do you ask for their permission afterwards? Or do you just walk away? I know you're supposed to ask but what is the consensis? Link to comment
velin petkov 0 Posted September 10, 2004 The picture i very nice, you`ve catched realy sensual and romantic moment. I read the coments above and most of them suggest to remove the eggs ti the left of the picture. I recommend you leave them there, but make them darker, because now they are as bright as the main subject and atract too much attention. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 28, 2004 Congrats, b&w was the best choice, it's such a great scene for me :) Link to comment
russelld 0 Posted September 28, 2004 This, too, is on of my favorite photos on Photo.net. I keep comeing back to it. I suggested earlier to crop the eggs and the customer. I have since changed my mind. They add to the story and all the great stuff that is going on in this photo. Here is my take. This girl is a young mother. Her body has a softness of a new mother to it. Her bag is not a purse but a bag for carry baby stuff in. Purses do not have Snoopy on them. I wonder if on the floor to her right there is not a baby carrier with a baby in it? I think she and baby are waiting for Dad to pick them up. Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. :-) Love the photo. Link to comment
fotogal 0 Posted November 20, 2004 Framing better?...composition is great here! Love the available light. Nice street photography, great sentiment within. Kind Regards, Cindi Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 13, 2006 This is unbelievable! Definitely one of the better candid street shots that I have seen, just excellent. The lighting on the girl is incredible, and your B&W conversion has given this photo an almost timeless look. You have captured an incredible amount of mood and feeling...I can't say enough about this shot. I would not change a thing with this photo. Link to comment
