Hi Suman, I didn't notice your question before. No the dragonfly wasn't dead. But if you approach VERY carefully sometimes they simply don't fly away! I've gotten this close three times in about 50 tries.

Thanks for the encouragement, Arnab. If I may say so, I simply adore your work - it was what made me take up macro last summer. I am a beginner, having gotten my first SLR last January but I have learned a lot from the advice of photonetters like you.
