This is an image I took of my daughter. The original included all

the background (she was walking through the patio doors at the time)

I did a rough selection and then created layers with differing levels

on them to try for that studio high key look. I then erased unwanted

data.

 

Let me know if you think that this works as an image. It was not a

studio shot, it was a casual shot, I do know that the hair over her

eye could be seen as distracting but I think it adds to the mood?

Glenn: I think you did a very good job working with layers and removing unwanted background. I like the girls stare and overall composition of the subject is exactly what you described: casual. Soft tones and pink color really adds to overall quality of the image. I would suggest a bit of dodging and burning to bring out the mouth area and some facial features (and perhaps some of the hair lost in high key background). I don't find the hair on left eye distracting at all. I think it is very cute. Well done 6/6.
