dave_nitsche 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Brilliant. Can't say much more. Definitely a fave. The only thing I would suggest is burning the awning. Without it I would have no clue what I was looking at, and I think that would add to it so much. Dam, I wish I had taken this. Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted August 24, 2004 It is always refreshing to see the world upsidedown. Well done. Link to comment
photoblogger 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Great shot - this one really pulled me up. I had a look at the rest of your folder and it seems very different from your other work - good going, I wish I could be more diverse! Not sure about Dave's comment on burning the awning - it's nice to be able to make the 'breakthrough' when you study a shot like this (it's like being let in on the secret). I enjoyed this one - thanks for sharing. Link to comment
dave_nitsche 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Originality = 3? This rating system just sux. Meanwhile somewhere there is a picture of a cat with an originality rating of 6.52. It's just ridiculous. Images like this should be rewarded. Sorry Sally, just had to vent. Tired of seeing original thought getting low balled. Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Dave that's priceless!! For some I suspect a cat sleeping, yawning, or licking his balls is unique. In my house it's routine. You have a great way of putting things into perspective and I thank you for your continued support. Cheers! Speaking of perspective, I like yours David! Thanks too for the support. Nice to hear your thoughts Marcus. Thanks for stopping. Sally Link to comment
johnorban 0 Posted August 25, 2004 This one grabbed my attention and just won't let go. One of your best, Sally. Original...creative...stimulating...and as perplexing as it is interesting. Link to comment
mediamanipulation 0 Posted August 25, 2004 but how did you get the light to stay up like that? LOL i'd give it a 95 dick (clark) but with that polyrhythm i'd need six legs to dance to it! this is great this is the picture that should be in the dictionary by the word sublime!! Link to comment
christos 0 Posted August 25, 2004 very very good.. i click my right eye to you, since this is something very close to my taste and interests, but far better than my own approaches By the way, Dave N.'s comment above said it all about sad ratings... Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted August 25, 2004 Always a pleasure John. I appreciate your support. Peter, yep! Finally, I got one. Thanks for stopping. MM, for God sakes don't hurt yourself. Thanks for the thumbs up...or should I say the legs down as it were. Christos, I see we both were taken by the magic of this form. Remarkable isn't it how two people from various situations can find something commonly remarkable. I enjoyed your portfolio. Thanks for the comment. Sally Link to comment
jos www.inpix.biz 0 Posted August 25, 2004 Very well seen and taken! I love how a photo with this much balance can actually hold a chain lamp upside down! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 26, 2004 Whimsical shot. The light on the wall draws me more than the window (which makes me want to jump off the ledge-in a good way) Knicki Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted August 26, 2004 Yep, Knicki is right. It's so good it makes me want to step off the ledge and jump right into that sky. I'll just keep falling up while I remember tomorrow. I have to say that the light on the wall makes this picture succeed. I'm not sure why. Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Josh, yeh it was qutie a challenge....strange physics and the like:). Seriously, what caught my eye initially was the window and the clouds. Rather obvious. But the light became a wonderful bonus once the image was rotate 180 degrees. Thanks for your comment. Knicki what's up....... besides your 'measuring up'. I meant to comment on that one when I saw it. I still think your threads are more exciting! Lannie , now you've got me thinking or have I been thinking too much? Perhaps I should stop thinking. Naaaa. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thanks Sarah. Sally Link to comment
htc 0 Posted September 1, 2004 A good photo, with a small remark: would like to have the bulb a little bit lower. regards, calin Link to comment
darrellwhittle 0 Posted October 5, 2004 CalinIf you had the bulb/shade any lower it would disappear out of the top of the image surely? LOL. I see your point though and agree it could probably do with a bit more space.SallyA good and very arresting image as it is. If possible it would be nice to see the light chain/wire crossing and dissecting the sky rather than overlaying (and getting a little lost) on the frame itself. Dave N's suggestion re burning the awning (wall?) is a good one as well IMO and would make this even more graphic and intriguing. I have a pic of some ceiling lights in front of a window here that i have rendered mono and boosted the contrast. It's not to everyones taste but i think it is effective none the less and makes my point about 'abstracting' images and making them very graphic.CheersDarrell Link to comment
darrellwhittle 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Here is what i mean with just the contrast increased in curves. I think it works well with this kind of subject but would be interested in your opinions. Cheers Darrell Link to comment
sallymckay-lepage 0 Posted October 8, 2004 Please forgive my tardy response. Haven't been on the ball lately! Darrell, most of my stuff is heavily photoshopped. The result of course is less about the actual and more about the possible. This image was , in a way , a break from that mind set. Here my mind was free to explore the 'now' and still get lost in the spaces in between. Utimately I wanted to play one reality against another. I think that relationship would cease to exist in a more graphic representation . Thanks to you and Calin for commenting. Sally Link to comment
