greg_rutland 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Not sure if it's a biased eye but I think it looks good. There were some dark areas on the left side but I "let" PS Elements fix it. Give me an honest opinion - I want to learn. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2004 I agree nice portrait. Have you thought about desaturating? I also wonder if you used af and whether or not the af point selected the bangs instead of the eyes of the child. The bangs seem sharper than the eyes- which could just be compression issues. threeleaf 0 Posted August 24, 2004 beautiful shot - I think the colors make it look like a shot from the 70's or something - looks like a shot I would see of myself at my parents house - the expression on the childs face is priceless - well done 6/7 Link to comment
greg_rutland 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Knicki, thanks for the critique. I tried desaturation and it really took the harshness out of his hair. I believe you were right about the auto-focus. This was on a creek bank with a thick canopy of leaves overhead so when I focused it must have picked the brightest object to focus on?.?. I am still learning this photography thing any and all honest critiques are VERY appreciated. Link to comment
greg_rutland 0 Posted August 24, 2004 Gerry, Thanks! That was the feel of that day. A sort of "old fashioned" ice cream social and watermelon seed spittin' contest. This is a friends' son and he is precious. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 24, 2004 The child and composition are super! Don't get much more cute than this! I have 2 suggestions, 1- his skin tones seem a little dark, I might try lightening just a tad with levels. 2- I would play around with the channels layers and add some definition to his beautiful eyes. Hope you don't mind I played in PSCS a bit, just to show you what I mean. Great capture! Link to comment
carl_williams 0 Posted August 25, 2004 I quite like the dark tones and the saturated out of focus background. Tones seem a bit cyan or something though, light falling through and reflecting off all that greenery I guess. Also it seems rather noisy, so I'm guessing a highish effective ISO for the low, shady light? Well framed and timed, very nice shot. Link to comment
