Interesting composition in that the lips are placed within the frame to denote them as the subject over the face. Yet the eyes soulfully make the connection with the viewer that is inescapble, which is key to any good portrait. The overall qualities of the image are good, cross lighting is soft and brings out depth with texture and while establishing a monchromatic feel that isolates the subject. The "texture" contrast is good, the straight hard lines of the background in contrast to the 3-dimensional, soft human texture, very good choice. The only thing missing is the catch light in the left eye, to match the one in the right eye, but that is a minor point in this case.
