You captured some moment. very strong contrast between dark and light. Perfect placement and lighting of the elk. If I have to pick, it will be the dull color on the light side. Still a great image. Geo

Interesting capture...this kind of light is rare. Note that this is not a young elk....it's a relatively mature bull in the early velvet stage of antler growth.

I was driving in rocky mountain NP and saw this elk.

I stopped the car and only have time to take two

frames before the elk turned around and went into

shadows. it may not be a young elk, I have to say

that I know nothing about elks.

May I suggest the above enhancements - more contrast and some added saturation. Nice capture.

I dont know much about elks either, but I know what I like, and like this photo.Nice one!

The only thing I do not like is that shadowy frame... it almost detracts from the beauty of this image.

 

You were really lucky and I like a lot the way you framed this shot.

 

Incidentally, the impact of the saturated version is quite stronger.

Very nice capture. A little post processing would improve it and bring out the full potential. Ansel Adams is reputed to have said that photography starts after the photo is taken. I believe that that would apply here.
