richard abrahamsson 0 Posted September 10, 2004 I think I'm a mistoholic/fogoholic. I love this motif in it's simplicity and the reversed S curve of the river and the heavy clouds hanging over it, clearing slightly at lower altitudes, barely revealing the distant Misty Mountain (LOTR?). dennisdixson 0 Posted September 14, 2004 So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains Where the spirits go now, Over the hills where the spirits fly, ooh. It is a pleasant affliction that produces results like this. Link to comment
simanta 0 Posted September 17, 2004 I hate the grain from the scan - Also, I wish I had a graduated filter with me at that time (which I have now)...the grasses could be greener - is there anything else that you think needs correction ? Thanks ! Link to comment
simanta 0 Posted September 17, 2004 Thanks Richard, Dennis, Earl and Dilip for your commens..Dilip - I actually liked the shade of the top and the bottom of the frame - The top and bottom being dark, and then gradually becoming light at the middle of the frame.. I liked that part. If the top of the mountain was fog-less, then I think it would have been a washed out sky IMO..but anyway - I couldn't change the scene even if I wanted :(.. thanks again for your critique Link to comment
peter_jones16 0 Posted September 17, 2004 I like it quite a bit. The composition is very clean (like the majority of your portfolio) with the river leading the eye through the mist to the mountain. This is the type of landscape that I like very much. what time of day was this taken? I'd much appreciate any comments you have on my portfolio. Link to comment
tom_westbrook 0 Posted September 19, 2004 I think this is a fine photograph and is well balanced. Don't use graduated filters indiscrimiately--they often get used for no good reason, as a sort of panacea. This seems just right. The green is expressed as it would be in real life and not fake-looking as graduated filters often render a subject, i.e. too bright in the foreground. I like this photograph. Link to comment
simanta 0 Posted September 20, 2004 Thanks to all ! Peter - this was taken at about 5pm (Summer) - The sun was covered by dense fog. Link to comment

simanta 0 Posted February 15, 2005 I am really interested to know why a O/6 A/3 in rating. I mean, honestly, the 3 really doesn't piss me off at all, it's absolutely fine, but with an originality of 6 ?? My ratings are generally other way round, so very interested to know the reason behind (or were they just got put in one another's place?). Thanks! Link to comment
aneely 0 Posted February 24, 2005 Beautiful shot! I love foggy scenes...reminds me of my youth. Does this happen to be the Androscoggin River? What type of scanner are you using. By the way, the folks who give low ratings with no justification, suggestions for improvement or even a simple comment must consider themselves important art critics...they leave their marks in so many places. I'm of the opinion that a viewer should not be allowed to rate without making a comment first. That would greatly reduce the "hit and runs". Link to comment
simanta 0 Posted April 7, 2005 Alex, forgive me for not responding to your message earlier, somehow I missed it. Well, I am not sure which river is this, I was just drivig by the acadia region and it was a very foggy and rainy day and I found this scenic and shot this without really knowing which river(?) is this. And I actually scan my slides and negatives (this one was a negative) from Walmart. They do it pretty good. That's my compromise until I buy a D70.. thanks for your comment Alex. Link to comment
