I would like to get some feedback on this shot. Especially on the use

of light and the tonality range it has given.

Very cute, although the hair before her eye is a bit distracting as is the hairpin above her ear. Also I think I would have preferred to have her look in the camera. As for tonality: the child could have been a little bit lighter - the colors (from the child) range from dark gray to black which is a bit limited.

I think the tone is pretty good, for what it's worth. If the child were lighter, she'd blend in with the background, especially right next to a black dress. The textured background would minimize the problem to some degree, but Ithink it helps here the way you have it too. She's a cutie.

The composition is very interesting. The fragile and innocent child has a great contrast to the raw background wall. She looks as if she wanted to squeeze herself to the left part of the frame, as if she saw something scary on the right hand side.

Very impressive.

imo...the hair adds something..she's a kid outside, being herself..not in some closed in studio and a stiff pose that you get off a pose card...excellent

the hair is nice and wispy, i'm assuming it was windy but maybe shooting 2/3 frames / sec you could have picked one w/o that one renegade strand in front of her eye? nice shot :)

Thanks for your kind comments, I am indeed very proud of my daughter(s) and this shot as well. I am currently redoing the printout. I find the frame is a bit cheapish and it could benefit from better digital dodging and buring here and there. But even in Photoshop is not easy to do but very rewarding. This shot is making me think of getting an other printer and scanner so I can blow it up to A3 size.

I think this is absolutely precious. My daughters always have wisps of hair around and in their faces, so to ME the hair over your daughter's eye looks completely natural! Beautiful work!
