philip_harle1 0 Posted August 5, 2001 What an absolutely superb portrait! Couldn't possibly be improved in my opinion. I used to use an ME Super and never had any success trying to use it with a flashgun - so more praise is due for such a well lit shot. Link to comment
stu_rosenbaum 0 Posted August 6, 2001 Was this image changed in photoshop at all - sepia toned? Just curious how you got the overall tone the same with Kodak Gold film. Great shot. Link to comment
jim_hall1 0 Posted August 6, 2001 I scanned a color print. Then I used the silveroxide.com TRI-X filter in Photoshop to bring the image into the proper grayscale. From there, a little burning, dodging, selective focus stuff and finally curves to render as sepia. Hope that helps. Link to comment
valleye 0 Posted August 10, 2001 The framing of the face and framing of the shallow DOF make for a great portrait. I also like the child's expression. A shile would be wrong in this photo. Link to comment
mjd 0 Posted August 10, 2001 This is one wonderful portrait. Among the best child portraits that I've seen. Good job! Link to comment
kari_abate 0 Posted August 10, 2001 Jim, You have really captured something here. Technically the print is perfect -- and I love how you rendered it in PhotoShop. But aside from that -- the expression on this boy's face -- and the position of his hands! It's simply breathtaking. Bravo. I focus on children's portraits (candid portraits at home/outside) and I am going to bookmark this one for future inspiration. Congrats. Cheers,Kari Link to comment
gail_mac 0 Posted August 10, 2001 Inspirational, yes indeed! I would love to see more of your photos of children if you have them. I found this photo by mistake by trying to track & find more info about Kari Abate(the poster above me). Sorry if I sound like a stocker. I am new at this. I found one of her posts from Jan 01 and I am very intrested in how her "a lot of windows" shoot turned out. We seem to be interested in the same things...shooting babies and kids. : ) I needed some fresh new ideas and inspiration and Jim-you just gave that to me! Thanks a bunch! Gail Link to comment
