abintraphoto 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Not colourful little creatures Peta -- these are actually tiny little sweaters Donna knits for them in her endless hours of spare time ...... Yep, she's a TinySweaterKnitter @ (tsk) Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted June 13, 2004 Donna, this is great! Great colors and background! And I am not much for any kind of bugs! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Thanks everyone for your comments. Ken, the sweaters are easy, it's knitting all those little booties that cuts into my time. . . . Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Nice caterpillar macro, Donna. Was this photo taken at Brazos Bend State Park? Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 13, 2004 No Steve, this one was taken in my backyard. It's in chrysalis form now, attached at top and bottom, to a stem by silk threads . . . waiting to turn into a swallowtail butterfly. Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Donna, I really like this little fellow. Great lighting, very crisp. As to the sweaters, I didn't know you all needed sweaters in Texas. Hip boots maybe with all the rain? Any way another great effort. Link to comment

pradeep1 0 Posted June 13, 2004 time to delete the caterpillar in my portfolio, this one is awesome and the background colors and the bokeh is very nice, just curious to know what was in the bg to get that color?? cheers! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Kristin, this should take about a week. . . they look like little Japanese lanterns at this stage. . Pradeep, the background in this shot was composed of the siding of my house (deep red), the swimming pool (blue) and some grass (green). And please, don't delete your caterpillar shot, I took a look at it and it's very nice. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Well done composition--love the background rays and mixture of colors. Not very sharp, but these are tough little subjects. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted June 14, 2004 I especially enjoy the gradual darkening towards the left. It produces a good 3D effect. Regards. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 15, 2004 Not very sharp, but these are tough little subjects.I agree with this being a tough subject. Haven't got anything yet that is good enough to upload in this place. About the sharpness, it looks OK for a web pic to me... Did you use a tripod, or is this a handheld effort, Donna? Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 15, 2004 David and Peter, I guess I need to work on sharpness in my macro images. . . taking these shots with this new macro lens is trickier than I thought it would be. . . my primary goal in this shot was to capture the face/head and to get maximum DOF along the body in addition to getting a relatively clean background without using a flash. This was taken handheld with an an f:14 and a shutter speed of 1/60 sec., which probably explains why it's a little fuzzy. I'm still all thumbs when it comes to using a tripod. . .and my subject always seems to walk away from the viewfinder. . . (~; Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted June 15, 2004 Did you watch this guy eat the leaves? Nice macro, Donna! :-) Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 15, 2004 Actually, I did catch him with a mouthful. . .Lou Ann. . .they're very voracious eaters. . . (~; Link to comment
