Great amusing composition, Im sorry but the placement of the name made this go from a 6 to a 4 in Asethetics. To centered...

I only put the name there so someone wouldn't steal the pic so easily cuz he would need to PS it out. I have seen other people's pics from photo.net used elsewhere. Pretend it's not there.

zach, thanks for the email. flattery will work every time. on this one, you really should take your name out -- imagining it is not there is just not the same thing. but you know that. this is a very good shot and i wouldn't know how to get it. I do have some editing suggestions. first, have you tried duplicate layers in ps? if you make a duplicate layer and then use the eraser to erase the layer from, say, the insect and red stem, you can dramatically darken the background while keeping the foreground bright, alter the contrast between them and the like. (also check out fade when you do an action, it allows you to calibrate your action very finely). here, the insect and red are great, but i'd darken the rest, and dull the upper right leaf corner, which is blown out. (you can use the burn/highlight feature of ps for that too.) also, i'd load a smaller file -- with a file this big you can see the sharpening a little too much. (have you tried sharpening using fade? it helps a lot to do that as well.) and when you sharpen, just sharpen the main subjects. that's about it. keep shooting, glad to stay in touch. what did you use to shoot this?
