1000wordsphotography 0 Posted May 29, 2004 A Red Poppy photo to honor our Military who gave all. I like the larger version as you can see more detail. Thanks for looking. Link to comment

Landrum Kelly 64 Posted May 30, 2004 I like it very much. On this day I memorialize all innocent victims of war (of course including soldiers, who are typically little more than kids), and even those fallen of the "enemy." "Patriot" comes from _patria_ for "fatherland," but I have one Father, and we are all His children, and thus all brothers and sisters, and I wish that we would stop killing one another. Even so, let us remember the soldiers, yes, not to mention people like my father, who died five years ago of asbestosis from fire-proofing ships in Charleston Naval Shipyard throughout WWII, and his brother, my Uncle Henry Kelly, who died one day before I was born, and just days before the war in Europe ended, on some field near Nuremburg, Germany, under the command of General George S. Patton. His body lies in a field in eastern France. I have always considered him my guardian angel, and I think that he has been telling me of war, "Don't go that way!" Sorry if that offends anyone, but that's just the way I believe, and so I have to celebrate Memorial Day in my own way. Beautiful picture, Regina. Link to comment
