The softness comes from the scratches on the front of my old Russian

Military Zenitar, but they add a nice tone to the stars and lava. I

couldn't quite get the CCD to reproduce the molten lava color right -

it should be more orange than magenta. I've been troubled by this of

late with longer exposures - if anyone has any suggestions for fixing

this without manipulating the image too much, I'm all ears!

Hauntingly beautiful. Truly a very special photo, almost otherworldy.

It could be even better appreciated with a magnified version?

A truely nice piece of work. I can only imagine the patience one must have, in order to achieve such a beautiful shot. it almost looks like something from a sci-fi movie.
