Ghost trees

I've modified this a bit in the Gimp - Last time I did this someone

complained that I "gave away the surprise" by describing the changes,

so I'm going to leave it at that - I'm sure you can figure it out.

 

I'm interested in comments on whether this works as a picture, and on

whether the digital manipulation is convincing and pleasant to the eye...

As long as you're manipulating, I'd suggest doing something with that park bench that is too bright. Other than that it's an interesting effect; I like the glow that the park lights give to the undersides of the trees, and I DO like the 50/50 split on this type of scene.
