Wonders of Glass

daniel_aurell

Hi! An ordinary, transparent drinking glass. Shot in sidelight a sunny afternoon with the white balance set wrongly on purpose to create the blue cast. The green is the lawn shining through which was in the background of the glass. Some PS work done also. How do you like it?

Magnificent in every respect. Excellent colour and composition. It gives me the impression of aliens for some reason ... :)

Thank you very much, David! *Bows* :)

Interesting interpretation you have which I haven't thought about before. I have thought more about some kind of creatures taken from above or fingers. I'm very glad you like the composition. I sat for hours trying to figure out a composition that worked. Most of them missed that critical point of interest and focus but I seem to have made a descent choice with this one. Thanks again!

I like this. Very interesting. It might be better without the green from the grass?

Would prefer it without the frame, which reminds me too much of the motivational posters in the supermarket I used to work in. ;)

that sure is a beautiful color of blue. i might have been tempted to try to tone down the highlights just hair. love the splotches of green.

heh Thanks for your kind words, Fergus! Maybe better without green, but I think it gives the image something extra. Now I have to try how it would look though without it just to see. :)

About the frame: hehe The thought was to make a frame with a little "class" like the big boys do for their artwork. Maybe it didn't turn out so well after all? Do you have a suggestion for a moore suiting frame perhaps?

Thank you, Karen! You make me happy! :) Maybe the whites are just a bit washed out as I presume you mean. You are probably right. Thanks for your attention for detail.

...The frame? Well I tend not to bother with borders for photo.net as it reduces the amount of actual picture on that precious screen space. I think I'd probably go for a plain black border. If more importance to me would be to have no text as I think the photo should speak for itself - or in this case, make the viewer think. (And I hate fake handwriting fonts). That said, you've done a great job of imitating the big boys - as a satire, your frame is perfect. I suppose my point is that a frame should complement the image but in doing so, be effectively invisible. The class is definitely in your photos. Thanks for taking my comments in good humour!
