max zappa 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Fine image, Herbert. Did you use filters and/or increase saturation, the colours seem so strong. I would like to see maybe a touch off the top of this image. ZAPPA Link to comment
herbert fernandes 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Hi Max, Thanks a lot for your comments and suggestions. In reply to yr query, I used a ND grad (Cokin) and yes I used some saturation in PS, Auto Contrast and Curve tool with a bit of saturation. But if you look at this image very closely you'll see some sorta specks.. this was some blunder done by the lab at the processing stage.. the entire roll has it.. dont have the time to sit and correct it in PS. nikonuserf100 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Lighting is 'everything' in photography, and you got it just right in this photo. Very nice work. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted April 9, 2004 One of my favorite subjects and very well done. I only see one small distraction and that is a black spot in the sand on the middle left. Beautiful work! Link to comment
anils 0 Posted April 9, 2004 One of my favourite subjects. Nice capture. You have some nice images in your portfolio. Didn't know Oman was so beautiful. My dad worked there in the 70's and 80's. I never got a chance to visit though. Thanks for your comments/suggestions on some of my images. Link to comment
ilkkavalkila 0 Posted April 9, 2004 A great photo, but I think cropping both the top and the bottom a little would improve it. Link to comment
bryantrook 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Great, it's good how it is, but a square crop would be nice too. Link to comment

ccfutbol 0 Posted April 11, 2004 I enjoyed your folder. A couple of thoughts entered my mind, based on problems I needed to solve in my own landscape work. I have architectural grids in my cameras now to help get things level, but I also went to a bubble level that slides onto the hot shoe. I need lots of help. Also, ... I think the grad ND4 is a bit much for some shots. Some people like the affect because it is dramatic to see a dark sky and a shaft of bright light on the foreground, but it doesn't make visual sense to me, ... looks altered. Serious landscape photogs seem to carry a number of Grads of different densities, some hard line and some soft, perhaps a colored one or two. I've added a couple to my own gear. But it's hard for me to get the discipline to meter all areas in the image and decide on the combination needed to balance the light to the most pleasing and natural experience. Best wishes. alberto.conde 0 Posted April 11, 2004 Dramatic use of the wide angle. Beautiful shot, although I'd use the landscape format here Link to comment
