This is an incredibly good picture ... an actor, you say? It could be a still from a movie set, genre film noir. Is it, by chance? the lighting is perfect.

Hal's a moron. This guy looks as much like Robert DeNiro as I do. Great shot by the way, I can smell the smoke and booze here in Milwaukee.

Are yoo lookin at me? There's nobody else, so yoo musbelookin at me.
Oh, wait, nobody's looking at me.
It is too bad the gel puffed the hair out of the frame; I disagree with the "face distortion" due to the lens; it looks very rectilinear to me (the image overall).

This association with DeNiro might in part be related to the impression that the image is actually a publicity shot distributed by the producers to publicize some hypothetical movie. I think that this impression is lessened by making the image resemble more a shot made under available lighting conditions on Tri-X film that had been "push-processed". I've tried to simulate that effect with a digital editor, increasing the image's grain and contrast.

Yeah, I can see how he could play a heavy. He has a look like a character from the Sopranos. Very nice atmospherics in this image. I can almost smell the smoke and the beer. Nice subdued edginess to it too. Excellent work. I too will look forward to seeing more of your work.
