Flexy Drama (RR)

atkphotoworks

Did Quite a bit with PS in this one. I eliminated all of the background with the elliptical tool. I softlit the saree and skin colour.

Great shot Amar. Gives me pain in the back just to look at it! In the thumbnail I thought one of her feet was cropped but I see that is not the case. I wonder if it would be better or worse if there was some indication of a floor? (don't know, just a suggestion. The anmbiguity works well.).

Colin, thanks for the comments. Believe me, it gives me a pain in the back as well to look at it. RR is not only a great dancer but as you can see, she is awfully flexible. As to the floor, the original was shot in a grassy area, and I was trying to avoid keeping that in. I just wanted it to be her and the darkness.

Saikat thanks for your comments. There wasn't much else in the foreground when I originally shot it. Also, after putting it through PS, I kind of wanted it just to remain her and only her.

Photoshop as a photographer's tool. This image manipulation is so beatiful and classy. It is a respectful application of a digital tool in photography. My only distraction is the left vertical edge line. I do not know if it is a physical frame or something done in PS. The floor line(which I do not know if it is a frame, I would have toned in the same warm colors of her skin instead of bluish.

David, thanks for your generous comments. The left vertical line is part of the frame I inserted via Photo Shop. As to using her skin color as the color for the frame, it's something to consider, and when I get a chance I will post it here and let you know. Thanks again.

At home now I can see the frame clearly. So the image is with no lines..perfect! The black frame is also perfect. How much for a print? I'm serious.

I'll be in Montreal this summer... You'll have to take me to a place where i can see this kind of dance. I would love to see what it's like "live"!

Amar, I'm sorry - how did I miss this! This is a fantastic image, certainly one of your very very best. 7/7 without a moments hesitation.

I like this a lot, the pose is unique full of passion, movement and life. The lighting is nice but I must admit I think the image would be more powerful if it was in context. RR slightly further away from the camera (not too much) light pooling around her showing the floor upon which she is performing. Maybe a stone floor or even sand! Just some thoughts and ideas. Excellant job.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts. I've never been too fond of the wood floor aesthetics that I often find them dancing on. Nevertheless, it's something to consider. Thanks Michael.

Amar,

I will have to thank Allen for leaving unfavorable remarks on one of my posts. Because of it, you stopped by my folders and left some nice comments. This in turn got me looking at your work and I must say I am glad I did! I am particularly drawn to this image in this folder. So much expression in her pose and so much beauty. Your skills are very obvious. Keep up the great work!
