>>After looking at both, I prefer the original rather than the PS version.<<

I find the picture somewhat disturbing, I guess in part, due to the forced perspective of this picture. The centers of attention of this picture, the horses heads, are too close to the edges of the frame for my liking, the eye wants to wander around without finding more normally located centers of attention. Nothing in the picture leads the eye in a normal progression of view to the centers of attention; the eye bounces back and forth between the horses heads. The optimal viewing distance for this lens focal length and size of reproduction does not allow the picture to be viewed as a whole even from normal monitor viewing distance. A forced perspective picture with more than one center of attention, just doesnt work for me. I will give you that the picture sure does give a sense of speed and motion.

The right horse is seems to be shying from the vehicle and or photographer. The white of the right horses eye is a clue that the horse is upset, and the head is turned away as well. Putting animals in situations that upsets them to get a picture doesnt leave me with a good feeling about the picture as well.

Sorry the picture just does not do it for me.

I think to improve the picture I would like to see just a "little" longer lens used, not quite so over the top in prespective. I would like to see the horses heads a bit more evenly placed with respect to the camera. I'd like a bit more margin in framing. Lastly not have one the subjects in what appears to be distress. All to easy for me to say, very hard for you to do.

It is one of the best action shots i have seen recently. It would be great if the photographer could include the settings that were chosen to capture this moment.

GREAT SHOT!!

I think that the "original" posted in his folder is a REOTUCHED original, not the original scan. AM I wrong?

The object of photography is to have the ability to give the perception to the audience that they are there, in the midst of the environment. You have given this to the viewer!!!!!!!!!!

I like the opposing eye contact- jockey on left sizing up his competition, horse

on right sizing up the other horse. Not to mention the immediacy conveyed by

the wide angle and composition.

The genuine competition between the two horses comes out really well in this image, echoed by the sideways glance of the left hand 'jockey'. Execution couldn't have been better!

The colors are brilliant and well saturated

The angle is very impressive and dynamic: it enhances both the perspective and the motion.

I think you never seen oil paintings of Jozef Chelmonski (polish painter - 1849-1914) - but your photo reminds me his work "Czworka" ("Four-horses car) painted on 1881, very famous for it's dynamic and revolutionary perspective.

You should see the painting here (but scan is a little poor). The painting is in Cracow department of National Museum (in Poland).

I like this image for the idea behind the picture and the amazing realization of it. Maybe a higher shutter speed would be fine

congratulations!

I think that is a perfect capture it cannot be better. I love the eye of the right horse looking into the camera and saying what you are doing?

Holy Crap! This must have been a difficult shot to get - what a perfect capture! I was listening to Dragonforce when I came across this and sort of wished they were wearing medieval armor, hehe..
