cecilw 0 Posted February 27, 2004 I was walking to work last week when I saw this heron strolling along the edge of the local creek, looking for fish to eat. I stood quietly in the shadows and he didn't notice me for a bit. He suddenly cocked his head as though he heard something in the brush, and in a flash he had this mouse. He flipped the mouse around, dipped it into the creek to wash it off, and then swallowed it whole... And I didn't even know heron's ate mice... Link to comment
cbender 0 Posted February 27, 2004 I'm a little distracted by the background and wish it was less in focus. Otherwise, a great composition. I'm drawn to the bright yellow eye and follow the beak down to the mouse. Link to comment
cecilw 0 Posted February 27, 2004 As somone pointed out to me, this "mouse" is actually a "vole". Of course, a vole is also called a "field mouse" or "meadow mouse". Link to comment
