After I posted this picture I received an e-mail telling me I made Photo of the Week with my previous picture as well. So now I'm smiling even wider :D

Best wishes to you all from Nina

Nina, super portrait, full of character. There is perhaps a little too much contrast (highlights a little burned out), but a very characterful portrait non the less.

Thanks Paul!

I actually resubmitted the picture and added the picture I had before I added the sephia tone. After looking at it again I think this one's better :)

Congratulations for the photo of the week!

I really loved all your photos, you are such a talented photographer, I wish one day I can make as great photos as you do :)

First I thought highlights were bit over lighten, but then I realized that face is the primary object of the photo its perfect.

Nina, since its your self-portrait I find this to be the most appropriate place for my comment. Your portfolio is simply amazing. To me your works are exactly what I believe to be the idea of photography a portrait. There is no snowy rocky mountain or crimson sunset that will compare to human face in its diversity and depth. Nature has four seasons, but human face 4 thousand. Unfortunately I didnt master in portraits, but I can appreciate works of others. Well done indeed. Also, your photos show how happy your family life is. Its wonderful.

to much diffuse glow, the photo has lost some of it character because of the blown highlights, i think i would have preferd the original. the white blob to her left adds nothing..IMHO

Thank you all!

Yes - I know the highlights are blown out but I wanted it to look like this this time... I figured since it was my first self portrait with kind of a cheesy smile I might as well go overbaord with the rest as well ;)

I really think David Magredze see what I tried to do (thanks a million for that awesome critique David!!!). If you look closer you see that the whiteness on the teeth is overdone as well... and that's what this is all about this time - the smile :)

I could have posted it as it was originally - but this was more fun. And for me this is what it's all about - having fun and experimenting :)

Have a great day guys - and smile!

Nina,

I absolutely love your work. I saw your portfolio long before the POW; and I think you are very very talented. Incidentally, I was wondering would it be possible to post the original picture? I just wanted to compare the changes you made.

Thanks!

So, when you get tired of being in back of the camera, you can make yourself comfortable in front of it. You can't deny that gorgeous child! You both have beautiful eyes ("The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree"). How about more images of your child (and yourself, too)? Give that gorgous child a nice hug from me, will ya? Good show! Thank you very much for sharing such nice images with us, your fans.

WOW- First I was blown away by the childs photo and the eyes that are absolutely magnetic, then I find that the eyes of the creator of the photo were just as magnetic. You literally have an eye for photography and the eyes of an angel. Keep on doing what you are doing and I will look back often to see your crerations.
