Any comments are gratefully aknowledged. In principle, alterations are

not so huge and could be done in traditional way (triple exposure on

the paper). However, two of the shots have been done on digital

camera. So, a bit of ps-work took place.

Just for the records, I worked out the calculations for a similar photo some time ago. According to my figures, this photo might be taken as a single shot provided that a) you have a 2000 mm lens on 35mm, or equivalent focal length on digital, or are willing to crop a lot; and of course, b) you can persuade your tree to stand in front of the moon, your cat to sit on the tree, and your sky to be clear. In all other cases, a photo composite will do ;-)

Thanks for your comment, Michele. Indeed, there is an unavoidable problem with DOF when using long lense. It is impossible to have sharp tree and moon.

Can you share some tech tips how to achive this composition? I waste 2 rolls shoting the moon but I couldn't get even close to your impressive picture

Neat idea, very well done. I like the bend in the symmetry of the cat; makes it look even more focused on the moon.

This is slick! Just plain slick! I love it. This one is definately suitable for framing, even if you don't like cats (which I do).

Thanks to everybody. To alex mit: I guess you will never catch very good shot without telescope or very expensive 1000mm lense. I used home-made telescope and old 35mm camera attached. The main broblem was the absense of any tripod or mount. So, I wasted several rolls also to obtain reasonably sharp picture and guess exposure.

I think to acheive the best results a 1000mm is fine, but a tripod and cable release is a must. Because even with a tripod when you press down on the shutter it shakes the camera, and with a focal length of 1000mm the sensitivity of camera shake is extremily high.

This is a lovely shot and definitely aesthetically excellent. But, I don't think silhouettes of the moon (or anything to do with the moon) are very original at all, particularly if they're photoshopped. Here's an interstellar shot I just knocked up on photoshop which does have an original theme. If anyone else wants to play with the moon or almost any other interstellar object go to http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/imgcat/ for plenty of good starting images. There are also plenty of cats and trees around on the web (or in real life) if you look hard enough.;)

Jur, My daughter would like to have a copy of this to hang in her home. Would you consider selling a copy?

Thanks

OK, it's no secret that I'm a cat lover but this image REALLY caught my attention. I'm laughing as I type (not easy for me; I still can't chew gum and walk). Great image for framing! Yes. Good show!

Very scenic. I confess I've been charmed by this image.

As Michele pointed out, the chance to be in the right place at the right moment with the correct lens and camera to do this shot is infinitesimal, is quite obvious you did some digital retouch.

But who cares? The result is very pleasing and funny.
