sunapeephoto 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Slow shutter speed created blur on moving ducks, but I still enjoy the overall feeling of this photo. Link to comment
nickgraham 0 Posted February 15, 2004 There you go with purple again, and three shades to boot! I love this photo; it attracted and satisfied my eye immediately. Very nice with the clouds just below the treetops. Link to comment
thanospapadopoulos 0 Posted February 15, 2004 It would be great picture if the ducks? were clear Link to comment
gearoid_osullivan 0 Posted February 15, 2004 I found the mix of soothing colours and the mist gave the whole scene a feeling of serenity. The blur of the mergansers is a slight drawback. Two sharp silhouettes among the soft colours wolud have been an interesting contrast. Lovely shot nonetheless. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Thank you. I accept all as valid praise and criticism. Very low light, so I don't believe I could get sharp ducks and have the velvia color. I have shot in similar situations with provia 400 and gave up a lot of the color. I will keep trying to get it right though. Link to comment
aaronsizer 0 Posted February 16, 2004 Oops--missed the crop a little on the top. Nice colors, though. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted February 16, 2004 Oops you are right Aaron I didn't crop it perfectly. I don't think I will ever really get good at Photoshop. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted February 21, 2004 Who needs sharp ducks.... I have a couple of movers in one of my shots and the photo still works. If you have a moody photo like this, I think a little blur actually enhances the feeling. It creates a little mystery--what are they doing? Why is one's head tucked close? Why is the other's neck sticking up high? I find that sometimes the criticism here on photo.net lacks depth or thought and often takes the easy way out. Link to comment
root 0 Posted July 26, 2004 The best thing about this shot is the line created by the hills protruding just above the mist. I'm hoping you got another shot without the ducks . . maybe even a larger view which you could crop down to a panorama. If you have more room at the top, I would include it to give the interesting cloud line a little more breathing room. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted July 27, 2004 Thank you for your ideas Carl. I will have to do some searching to find whether or not I have the appropriate image to try your suggestion. As I remember that morning the light and fog rising off the lake were magical and resulted in many good shots and many more missed shots. Hopefully I can do as you suggest because the image you created in my mind is wonderful.:) Link to comment
r 0 Posted October 19, 2004 And I think the blurred Merganzers work fine. People, this is a real photograph. Waiting for the ducks to move out of frame and the mist could have risen above the horizon and the waves in the clouds could have broken up. Take these chances when you get them, blurry ducks or not. Well done John. Link to comment
