This shot was taken in Kemah, Texas. I was about to leave when the

clouds oped up just enough to allow beams of light through the clouds.

It is quite eye-catching. However, I agree with the previous comment, there is something that doesn't look right... Again, could you please explain why the sunrays do not match with the water reflection... ?

but weird. The horizon looks to me like a picture at sunset however the light rays definitely seem to be from above. And the light rays are not all coming from the same direction. To get this effect I would think your light source would have to be much closer to the clouds then the sun would be. And finally the reflections of the water really don't match up either.

The photography is real. I used PS to sharpen, add contrast and saturation to the picture. If anything I over saturated the picture.

To explain the beams not "matching" my theory is that they are too narrow and are blended together. Some of the beams of light is actually over land. I certainly do not have the expertise with PS to pull off a fake of this magnitude. Wish I did though.

John I would be glad to send you the original file. Other pictures can be seen at www.pbase.com/mchat89

Mark, I checked out your other photos and you have me convinced this is not PS. I thought this was stunning before and I think so even more now after viewing your other images. Some folks are fast to jump on work for being photoshopped. Skies and light can do strange things. Congrats on a great series of images. Some of the best sunsets I have seen in a long time.

Warm regards

I like the colors, composition (perhaps even more in other pictures from your Pbase portfolio): excellent picture.

Just to explain what you see: the sea will reflect the light coming into your direction (vertical plan). Therefore the reflexions are from the bright holes in the clouds, not from the rays of light that we see here. And the Sun is located at the intersection of the rays, and in front of us (Hmmm... but very far... :-)

Wow, this is great. Did you purposefully get the closest beam dead-center in the photo? A very unique event to capture. (I could fake this in PS anyday..)

if you're faking it, (which I really don't believe you are), you're fooling yourself more than anyone! Extraordinary capture of an extraordinary scene! Very well done, Mark! Kind regards, Chris

Great picture! Not sure why this went into a 'faking' it or not discussion. Even if there is PS work, doesn't make this less of a good picture. My only comment is that I feel that the middle beam of light coming from center above (beyond the top of the frame) seems to a bit distracting.

This is a wonderful capture of a wonderful moment. The light both in the ray and in the horizon look simply spectacular.

Yes Igor, but what is that fence looking thing in the foreground..Part of the pix, so shouldnt it be addressed..means looked into Alec, not address such as Kowloon Bay..

The main beem being the CEO is only as strong as his/her staff. I would say, this is a strong company. Great shot "Leadership poster written all over it.

Wow, nicely done. About why the rays and the water don't line up, I wonder if the water is reflecting the holes in the sky, not the rays themselves.
