I haven't really shot the Holga much for real landscape work--

comments appreciated on the whether the Holga works for this type of

shot. For those of you who aren't familiar with Holgas: they are $20

plastic toy cameras with plastic lenses and rudimentary controls.

Part of their appeal is their lack of technology and unusual optical

effects (most obviously vignetting). Thanks.

I love Holgas. I have one I carry often, as I do my Dianna. Most people don't use them as much for this sort of image, but this is great. I love the surreal, dreamy images the toy cameras render. Who says everything has to be sharp and technically perfect! Whoever they are, damn them! I love it!

Great shot, but I'm sure you did a lot more than point and shoot the amazing Holga! I've spent some time looking at your beautiful portfolio, and decided to get a Holga and see what I can make, although I can only dream of doing the kind of work you have posted. Thanks.

Ya know I can identify your work now just by looking at the photograph. Maybe it's all that sepia? :) I've been thinking of going to arcadia one of these days. This image really looks like it was taken in the late 1800's or something. I think because of the sepia toning, the vignehtting (sp?) on the edges and the strange depth of field. It certainly evokes a mood. Thanks for sharing

All I can say is WOW and well done! I use a Holga and love it (after I fixed the major light leaks). Try taping a red 52mm filter on the front of the lens, use 400 speed film and push development one stop for some unbelievable dark-sky landscapes.

great result... it is not always about the camera...but about the one taking the picture... :) regards,

I think that your Holga did a fine job on this type of shot... maybe try one like this while opening and closing hte shutter a few times.. show some movement in the water.... but this is great as it is 7/7

Fantastic looking Holga capture here.... BRAVO... this one reminds me of several pro Hassy shots of the same type. I agree with Alex as well

Amazing how a cheapie cam can produce so much more of an intersting photo than many of the other top rated pictures! I love the vignetting, and the sepia. The slight distortion from the lens on the horizon line disturbs a little though. Other than that I can only say I am impressed with what can be achieved with so basic technology. Thanks for bringing this to the top rated pages. A very keen eye for a wonderful scene, and beauty captured in a much subtler fashion.
