I've no idea what I am looking at ... but I like it and I've no idea why! It looks like odd impressions of toes (I assume that is what you mean by pads) ... what is it?

Ant hills, 5 in a row, along a crack in the ground. I took it last year and recently went back to some older photos to try to apply newer techniques, and was happy with the way this one turned out.
