I was hoping for some critique regarding the shot not really the subject matter, thanks for helping out a beginner with the comments.

For this particular shot, I'd crop the sign....it is incomplete and it is white, both of which tend to draw the eye away from the main part of the picture. Posedowns are generally pretty chaotic, and as a result I think some viewers of this picture will not know what to look at, or not know the purpose of the picture. Some of the men are clearly defined, while others are hidden in the background. I think photos of individual poses will work better. Maybe it's roughly equivalent to a long line of Miss America contestants lined up on the stage....what's the point of the picture? What makes it inherently interesting? I think most viewers would prefer a study of some particular aspect of this photo. For example, a tightly flexed bicep in the right light, or abdominal muscles or thigh muscles in the right light might hold more interest. These are just suggestions from one individual.

I think the photo basically works: the frame is packed to overflowing with huge guys... it documents the event better than individual shots I would think.

The sign has to go, but cropping will remove their feet. Try photoshopping it out by pasting some of the from curtain over it. It'll take a lot of work to make it look right, I think.

I guess it's what the photographer is trying to capture. Posedowns are chaotic free-for-alls, so a photo here will capture a moment of chaos (I know that's an over-exaggeration, but you get my drift). I suspect that more people will be interested in subjects other than such moments. However, photography is not about trying to please other people, so perhaps this should not matter. When a photographer asks for comments on a photo like this, I can anticipate many of the reactions and the reasons for those reactions, at least in my opinion. I think this is just going to be a very difficult shooting assignment.

I'm not sure how i would improve this shot. But it's funny to see that these guys' heads seem out of place on their bodies! They look like bobble head dolls. But then again, if i had muscles like that, i might comment otherwise, though i don't think i'd wear a speedo and get up on a stage!

A lot of people may look at this picture and be grossed out or laugh, but i think the important thing is that this picture induces emotion (as can be seen by the number of comments posted), which most pictures on this site fail to do. Maybe that makes this picture better than most pictures?
