timokl 0 Posted December 26, 2003 Not bad, but you have to trimm the horizon correctly. This way it's neither a horizontal line nor that much out of balance, that it's part of a compositino. You seem to be interested in the sky. I suggest, you get a (circular) polarizer filter and experiment with it. (Hint: With a b/w film you can accentuate the clouds!) Link to comment
niels olson 0 Posted December 26, 2003 Work on in-the-camera framing. Consider a Red 25 filter if you want Ansel Adams skies. Even critics can find out what you used, so , if you want to maximize response, tell us the facts: shutter speed, f-stop, tripod or hand-held, filters, lens, film (with ASA/ISO/DIN), body (the biggest thing with body is format size, but body name conveys that and a few extras.) ken_zill 0 Posted December 26, 2003 The way some of the clouds are "blown out", meaning no detail or tone, makes me guess you're using a digital camera. In this case the effect is not really bad, but keep in mind that digital cameras lose details in the bright areas faily easily. So in some cases you may wish to under expose the image just a bit below what the meter says so that you keep a little more detail. Most digital files have better shadow detail than you might think. You can brighten the shadows in photoshop, or similar program, using Levels or Curves. You're framing with horizon towards the bottom is better than placing it in the middle. Link to comment
shawn_mertz 0 Posted December 26, 2003 I think it could use more foreground, or crop it closer. Link to comment
infinity007 0 Posted December 28, 2003 Your comments are well noted and will be given consideration in my next attemp. I particularly agree with shawn who said it needs more foreground. Link to comment
