dabar 0 Posted December 17, 2003 I did a bit of adjusting to bring out the forground on this. What do you think? Your comments are most welcome. Rate if you wish. Thanks, Dave Link to comment
maxhaynes 0 Posted December 17, 2003 I am puzzled by the low ratings for originality. To me, this is a very original picture of a lightning storm. I'm going to have to stop looking at ratings, people can be so stupid. Link to comment
dabar 0 Posted December 17, 2003 Thank you Max. I try to keep in mind that very few photographers have ever done lightning photography on a regular basis. It is not easy to get all the elements (pun intended) to come together as they did here. To my mind the "originality" in this image is in its unique nature, and in the skills required to get a shot like this by design rather than fortunate accident. Ratings frequently reflect the position in which the rater places a photo based on their own experience and perceptions and not necessarily on the merits of the photo as seen by someone working in the same genre. Therefor, I always try to consider ratings in relation to the work of the rater. Emotional impact is hard to predict in what is primarily a technical exercise, but I do try for as much "artistic value" as I can achieve in a given circumstance. If it works for the viewer then it works for me. Link to comment
c_murdock 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Beautiful color. I have tried lighting shots a couple times with very little success. You should be commended for being in right place at the right time and capturing the scene so well. I do find the branches on the left to be a little distracting. Or maybe I am just jealous?
