Wayne Sadler 612 Posted May 14, 2022 From a withered tree a flower blooms – zen proverb -- Late afternoon I found myself walking what at first seemed a desolate street in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The dark shadows of late day and boarded up buildings added to the sense of desolation and abandonment. Then upon closer inspection the area and buildings seemed very much alive with art deco architecture and vibrant interiors. This was an old but revitalized area still very much alive. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted May 15, 2022 Wayne, indeed this image proves that downtowns of big cities, although having a generally dilapidated appearance, offer up gemstones (or flowers). Indeed, potential subjects that are part of a rundown area still can be beautiful and can be worthy subjects for photographers like you who have eyes that are open in more one sense of seeing. Superior technical elements are color, contrast, detail, and lighting. It's your painting technique that brings it all home. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 612 Posted May 15, 2022 Many thanks, Michael. Treating a scene as I would a painting allows variation in texture ie. windows versus bricks. I think the eyes read the differences in texture and sense a dimensional realism in the painting/photograph. Link to comment
