michaellinder 16,613 Posted July 23, 2021 Daniel, certainly I don't need to tell you something you already know so well - that whenever you're not sure to convert an image to b&w, more likely or not you go with b&w. Although I have no idea where you shot this photograph, I'm guessing it's a European city, perhaps Paris. I base this observation on the rather ornate appearance of this building, which includes wall-mounted lamps, a wall-mounted decorative sconce, and second story balconies with metal railings. The image's lighting is done so well that it makes me want to visit the shooting location so that I can walk along this street at night. Yep, it is extraordinarily atmospheric. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 498 Posted July 23, 2021 Daniel, with these recent images of yours you really take me back at least 50 years, when in the dark room we were able to print the photos very well, enhancing the grain of the film, with high contrast film and paper, this wonderful effect makes your images very fascinating , ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted July 23, 2021 Hi Daniel, this is a fine and well-composed urban image. Its most noticeable feature is your post-processing. As Giangiorgio rightly stated, it is reminiscent of a B & W print on hard grade-paper, bringing out the grain and contrast of the photo. There is something very captivating about this image. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 23, 2021 Daniel, all your photos show your trademark style and are easily picked out from the crowd. There is a slight softening of the hard edges of the contemporary world which I think brings things more in line with how you would like them to be. I suspect you are a mixture of the poet and the romantic very much at odds with the values and the rash and often unforgiving character of modern life. Your photos seem the outpouring of a courtly soul who has somehow gotten "unstuck in time" (if I can borrow a phrase from Kurt Vonnegut.) Link to comment

DGorinstein 20 Posted July 25, 2021 Oh......Gentlemen, friends, fellow photographers. I am speechless. I cannot properly address each and every one of your comments. They, individually, overwhelm me, each its own way, suavely conveying your feelings/observations so kindly regaled me. I can only respectfully bow in silence and deep respectful appreciation.
